As Congress resumes the deficit reduction debate, particularly through the deliberations of the new and powerful “Supercommittee,” poor families have significant interests at stake. This memo provides background and then highlights key issues that could affect poor families.
Marguerite Casey Foundation exists to help low income families strengthen their voice and mobilize their communities in order to achieve a more just and equitable society for all. In furtherance of this mission, the foundation commissioned this non-partisan analysis regarding the impact of federal deficit reduction on poor families.
