Giving Tuesday: A Global Giving Movement

November 11, 2019

GivingTuesday is a day of giving celebrated worldwide. Falling on December 3rd this year, the global ritual has grown into the biggest giving movement in the world. Originally founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, the movement became its own organization in July of 2019.

GivingTuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, kickstarts the charitable season. GivingTuesday inspires people, organizations, and communities to back to causes and issues that matter to them, now and into the future. The day of giving and the movement are designed to last beyond this season. GivingTuesday encourages millions of people around the world to harness their generosity, support the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live and come from. GivingTuesday isn’t just about fundraising – it’s about communities coming together to share their time, power, skills, expertise and resources. It’s about the collective spirit of generosity that brings change to our communities.

We chose the following organizations from our four focus regions for our pilot giving season. We’re matching your donations to this select group to participate in the #GivingTuesday movement this year. Our collective donations will help advance their missions and work in their communities. Learn more about each one below and consider donating! Let us know how you’re giving back on social by tagging @CaseyGrants and using #GivingTuesday. Learn more about GivingTuesday from their site.
