Debt Collective

ABout

The Debt Collective is the first union of debtors. They aim to abolish debts and advocate for a transformation in the way public goods and services are distributed. They work to cancel debts and defend millions of households while building a world where college is publicly funded, healthcare is universal and housing is guaranteed for all.

Operating nationwide, the Debt Collective sees debt as a vector of asymmetrical economic, racial, and political inequality. They mobilize the organized power of debtors to win debt abolition and energize a movement for reparative, public goods – public goods that ensure collective well-being by centering the most marginalized and exploited. Over the next year they will be expanding their efforts to build a multi-racial and multi-generational movement across three focus areas: 1) student debt and cost-free college for all, 2) housing debt and housing for all, and 3) medical debt and healthcare for all.
