Emerald Cities Collaborative is a national nonprofit working to advance a sustainable environment while creating sustainable, just and inclusive economies with opportunities for all. They develop energy, green infrastructure and other sustainable development projects and policies that not only contribute to resilience but also ensure an equity stake for low-income communities of color in the green economy.
Over the next year, Emerald Cities Collaborative (ECC) will expand its signature community power-building and equitable implementation initiatives, such as the Freedom Fellows Program, by collaborating with HBCUs to build partnerships between students at these institutions and communities across the U.S. Southeast to apply for federal grants supporting clean energy and infrastructure projects. They will also launch a Virtual Power Plant and Energy Democracy learning cohort.
