Common Thread - Where Connection THriveS and Ideas Come Alive

Fight Oligarchy! — The Common Thread Comes to Greensboro, North Carolina

Bernie, Beats & Brew

More than 260,000 people showed up to Bernie’s Fight Oligarchy! events last year, including a packed audience in Greensboro. Now, he’s coming back to dive deeper into how people are uniting to confront an economy in which so few have so much, while so many have so little.

Fight Oligarchy! is the kick-off event of Marguerite Casey Foundation’s nationwide community-building series, The Common Thread.

Fight Oligarchy!

Bernie’s latest book, Fight Oligarchy!, delivers a clear-eyed diagnosis of the political reality we’re living in—the US has become an oligarchic society, where a small group of the ultra-wealthy exercises tremendous political and economic power.

As the wealthiest Americans enjoy $1 trillion in tax breaks, millions of our people struggle to afford the basics just to stay alive: food, healthcare, and housing.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Fight Oligarchy! is a call for a political revolution. In it, Bernie is unsparing in his criticism of elected leaders for catering to wealthy interests, and he makes clear that true power lies with all of us—the people.

Drawing on examples of how communities are already organizing, Bernie shows that solidarity and collective action can confront oligarchic power and build a better future.

Following the 2025 No Kings protests, which saw 7 million Americans mobilize in October against autocracy, Fight Oligarchy! helps clarify what it will take for resistance to become lasting, participatory democratic power.
